The theme that I explored was constructed landscapes. I first thought that this would be quite a fun and interesting experience as I had never learnt it before so it allowed my imagination have a wider point of view. At first my ideas where all over the place as it was a new topic and i hade a lot of things to choose from. However as we grew further into the topic my ideas kind of narrowed down to on thing. Moreover, my feelings throughout this topic never really changed as I was consistently excited to try something new. I chose to research the artist Vilde Rolfsen as his work caught my attention the most and inspired me to want to work in a more creative manner. I discovered this artist from the internet when I was looking for an artist to work on and evaluate of my constructed landscapes final project. Furthermore, when studying Vilde Rolfsen's work I learnt how to manipulate light through paper to make it seem like a constructed landscape. his work also taught me to be persistent in making the detailed in the paper and tissue and trying to get the different tones of colours to show through to get a finished outcome I am proud of.
one of the experiment I did during this project was when I made photo grams. I did this by making a hand made negative. After that I took it to the dark room which is where I used some light sensitive paper to print the hand made negatives onto. I did that by placing my handmade negative onto the light sensitive paper and then exposing it to the light using an enlarger. I exposed them for about five seconds each. After that I took them over to the developer and place it in there until my image had fully developed onto the light sensitive paper. Then I moved it over into the stop which is where it stops the chemicals from developing even more. After a few seconds of it being in the stop I moved it over into the fix chemicals then I took out the paper, rinsed it in water and dried it off to then get my finished product of a photo gram, Another experiment I did was where i made slides. I did this by picking out the images I wanted to use, printing them out in rows of however many, then I made that into a hand made negative. After that I cut them down into squares of the suitable size, then I was creative and designed them until I was proud of the way they looked. I developed these by making a film of me flipping through the slides then I made a book full of the best constructed landscape photos. I decided to change My plan for my final project in constructed landscapes completely. Originally I was going to use a frame to frame some of my images with my slides projected behind the frame on a blank. white background.. And from there I was going to create a cleat version of a landscape to put in side of the frame so that when I project my slides it will shine through the landscape making it be known to people that look at it. But along the way I decided to change my idea and decided to make a book instead, This was because it was less time consuming and I had never done it before so it would have been challenging as I was trying something new. I believe finding new ideas and new ways to improve your work is probably the most challenging when trying to work off of an artist. A you have to find ways to be creative but in your own way as it can't be too similar to the artist itself. However, I feel like the way my mind and imagination has changed for the better along the way.
Yes I believe I have used my website to record my progress of my ways of thinking and making. One good example to show my progress would be from my online expedition. As I have designed it in order to show the different progresses of my work. At first it was all of the work I did on Vilde Rolfsen and then when I got past the book I made my response to Rolfsen's work the expedition moves on to my slides and them being projected. I designed my expedition like this because I feel like It shows the process that I went through in my work.
My final outcome was a book showing off my best work from constructed landscapes. I was hoping to create some sort of structure however I had to move away from this idea as I ran out of time and had to move on. However, I do think I successfully explored the theme because I was able to use my imagination and create a lot of different outcomes. If I had more time I would have wanted to try and complete my original idea. Or I would have maybe seen if i could come up with a more creative out of the box idea. The work i have done is quite personal to me as it has In my opinion has brought out the creative side of me more and allowed me to express that side a lot more. I hope viewers will look at my work and see that I have tried my best at it. I also hope that it is very eye-catching to the viewer and that it will make them want to go further into my website and see what other work I have done.
